Hot Tub, Dining & Sun Terraces

Outdoor living doesn’t get more stylish in such a rural setting! Duke’s Lodge has a range of terraces conveniently located alongside the house for you to follow the sun and enjoy every minute of the day. Curl up with a book on one of the many Upper Terrace sun-loungers, relax on the Lower Terrace, or socialise in the Sunken Garden whilst supper is on the barbecue grill or doing its thing in the wood-fired pizza oven.

And as for the hot tub – well, thanks to its gazebo with top/side shutters, we’ve got that covered too – if, or when, you wish!

Designed for the ultimate in outdoor living, the garden terraces at Duke’s Lodge almost double the size of the shared downstairs spaces at this stunning self-catering home-from-home for up to 16 people.

These are located in the Sunken Garden which can be directly accessed from The Hub kitchen / diner via patio doors and include:

  • Wood-fired pizza oven
  • Large, built-in barbecue and grill

The private 7 person hot tub is located on the Upper Terrace, above the Sunken Garden and has been designed with privacy in mind. It is accessed by steps or a paved slope.

The Upper Terrace has a gazebo with roof and side shutters, operated by a wind-across/ wind-down mechanism. The gazebo roof can be opened up to let the sunshine in – or closed to keep the rain out, or to provide a bit of shade. The pull down side panels also help with shade, to keep draughts at bay or to extend a little extra privacy to those enjoying the hot tub facilities.

There is a comfortable seating area and smoke-free fire-pit to the side of the hot tub, furnished with patio furniture including tables and sofa-style seating. This is also under the shuttered gazebo.

Terms and conditions apply for the use of the hot tub by guests.

The outdoor terraces are furnished with a wide range of seating, sun loungers and dining furniture.

The outdoor dining area can accommodate 16 people seated at table.

Located on the Upper Terrace  and also under the shuttered gazebo, the bio-ethanol fire pit is very eco-friendly and smoke-free.

Fuel can be purchased on site.

The large lawned garden has mature trees and shrubs, plus fenced wildlife pond.

The areas are ideal for outdoor games and there is a permanent table tennis table located near the Upper Terrace.

Table tennis bats and balls are available and stored in the Games Room.

Fenced garden area where dogs can free range.

Dogs should otherwise be on leads at all times around the farm, to prevent damage to crops and most importantly, any disturbance to wildlife, including ground nesting birds.

The Story

During the 35 years that we lived in the house, we always enjoyed how this area was so sheltered and sunny for the best part of the day. It’s why we wanted to give our guests the chance to enjoy this little microclimate too.

Behind the fence is a wildlife pond. Look out for the baby moorhens which often explore the area in the spring. They look like little black powder puffs on the most enormous pair of black legs and feet! They’re pretty speedy little things, but a real delight to watch – if you are lucky enough to catch sight of one!
