Grounds & Gardens
Duke’s Lodge sits in a superbly elevated position on the gentle valley slopes of the River Waveney which marks the border between Norfolk and Suffolk. Its landscaped grounds lay alongside a friendly working arable farm, close to vineyards and boast wonderful woodland and rural countryside views.
The mature gardens have a fenced pond, lawns and terraces, plus all the modern day features for great outdoor living – a 7 person hot tub under a shuttered gazebo, built-in barbecue and wood-fired pizza oven, fire pit, table tennis and an abundance of patio furniture.

Lawns & Vistas
Practical, extensive and with a touch of Victorian villa garden elegance – the grounds at Duke’s Lodge combine lawns with lovely borders, mature trees and shrubs … and a mini sculpture park.
From natural wildlife by the pond to stiller life works of art, what will you discover tucked away here?
Hot Tub, Sunken Garden Dining & Sun Terraces
The perfect place for a spot of outdoor sharing! From drinks and watching supper cook in the Sunken Garden to putting a toe in the hot tub water, Duke’s Lodge brings friends and family together in a relaxed and very special way.

Dogs very welcome
Four-legged friends are most welcome at Duke’s Lodge and up to 3 pets can stay free of charge. From the ‘dog dorm’ to the warm dog shower, we are keen for them to enjoy a happy stay, along with some great country walks.
However, as Duke’s Lodge is located on a working arable farm, it is important that dogs only run free in the dedicated, fenced garden area.
Active Outdoors
Fancy a quick kick about on the lawn? A game of outdoor table tennis perhaps? What about a welly walk or pedaling off down the country lanes to explore more?
At Duke’s Lodge, we provide the kit – including wellies, walk ideas and potential discovery routes. We’re working on getting some guest bikes in place, so check in with us on that (or we can advise on local hire places)… but there’s plenty of room to bring your own of course!

Sculpture Discoveries
From chainsaw sculptures to wonderful heads and African Maned wolves, the gardens and grounds of Duke’s Lodge are sprinkled with amazing works of art.
Most are by the artistic hands of Bobbie Watchorn, who formerly lived and worked on the farm, who masterminded much of the renovation, upcycling and interior design and now manages the property.
Visiting Wildlife
Partridges and pheasants, squirrels and hares, woodpeckers, deer and even the occasional otter – Duke’s Lodge is a haven for wildlife.
Spot nest-box visitors and mini-beasts who grace the pond, or follow one of our farm walks to enjoy wildflower field margins and views of the rewilded woodlands.

Flora
You’ll find verdant shrub-based borders and carefully planted floral accents around the grounds of Duke’s Lodge.
The place is a real treat when the mature trees are in blossom and we’re excited for the planting around the newly installed Sunken Garden too.
And if you have a love of wildflowers, our farm walks along hedgerows and field margins are sure to please!
