The Cowshed – Family bedroom
The Cowshed is a huge south- and east-facing first floor bedroom which can comfortably accommodate a family of three – with room for a travel cot or two as well! Painted in ‘Buttercup’ yellow (what else?!), it’s a really bright and beautiful room with lots of light. There’s a lovely Victorian feature fireplace, thick Chinese rugs on original floorboards and lots of quirky little bovine and butterfly meadow bits to chew over.

The Story
We have named all our highly individual bedrooms to reflect the rich farming heritage of Duke’s Lodge at Earsham Park Farm.
All farms had a cow shed or two in the past – if only to provide milk and dairy products for the farmer! At Duke’s Lodge, the real cowsheds were located behind the buildings on the opposite side of the yard.
Cows have to be milked at least twice a day, otherwise they stop producing milk. Sometimes, when there was an excess of milk, this could be made into butter… hence the choice of decoration here – butterflies on the buttercup-yellow paint! We’ve also let whimsy run away with us on this one – spot the cow’s head handles, not to mention other themed items.
Why not read about the fascinating history of Duke’s Lodge in our journal?
