East Living Room

Originally the dining room for the house, the East Living Room at Duke’s Lodge is a gorgeous bright space, with enough comfy room for the largest group of guests to be seated together.  It still has its lovely original Victorian wooden shutters, all beautifully restored – close them up on winter’s night, light the woodburner and snuggle on down in your own little Norfolk world!

The Story

Above the cellar, for the renovation of this room we decided to put in a new floor… sourced from a nearby American airbase, the fine Canadian Red Maple boards were once gym flooring!  Once stripped and in place, it was stencilled to give it a little extra character.

The original Victorian paint in this room was dark green and pink, the colour scheme has been retained, but the lovely marble fireplace was covered in black gloss paint from the 60’s when we set about the transformation – it looks so much better now!

All the wooden furniture has been sourced locally from auctions or online marketplaces and loved back to life!
