She may be a big and fiery character, being a very sizable biomass boiler, but she’s at the very heart of what makes our Norfolk holiday home so special!

Everyone loves our biomass boiler, The Duchess. She ensures that the house stays snug during the colder months.
Each the uniquely decorated bedrooms has its own thermostat, so you can set the temperature to your liking, knowing the Duchess will respond to your every need!
What’s more, the formidable Duchess provides lashings of hot water – enough for seven ensuite showers at once!

So what’s one of The Duchess’ favourite tasks? The 7-seater hot tub at Duke’s Lodge is a really relaxing and much-loved outdoor treat space, that’s greatly enjoyed by our guests. And there’s nothing The Duchess likes more than filling it with freshly heated water, ready for you to enjoy as soon as you arrive.

Eco-friendly luxury for really relaxing holidays
At Duke’s Lodge, we care deeply about providing comfort without compromising the planet. That’s why in the renovation of this fine building, we have made every effort to design in eco-friendly and efficient systems.
Our fiery Duchess is powered by wood, much of it gathered from fallen trees on our farm. She tucks herself away at the side of the property, and we admit that she may not win any beauty contests. In fact some say that she looks a bit like a “Portaloo”(sorry, Duchess!), but when it comes to efficiency and heat output, she’s second to none.
Smart stuff
To make sure our heating system is as kind to the environment as possible, Duke’s Lodge is carefully insulated, fitted with modern double-glazed windows, and features smart sensors that automatically switch off radiators when windows are open.
Plenty of creature comforts
Guests can also enjoy two stunning living rooms. Both the East Living Room and West Living Room have state-of-the-art glass-fronted wood burners, offering the cosy charm of a real fire while using minimal wood.
In the spacious kitchen-diner, luxurious underfloor heating—all courtesy of The Duchess—makes every gathering warm and inviting.
Of course, we must not forget our faithful doggy friends! They can have a lovely warm dog wash after a muddy walk, using the special warm outside tap.
